The architect José Ignacio Linazasoro joins the list of winners, including Rafael Moneo and David Chipperfield, of the Piranesi Prix de Rome, an award sponsored by the Accademia Arianea, the Ordine degli Architetti de Roma, and the Casa dell’Architettura, and which acknowledges either an exceptional work related to historical heritage or, as in Linazasoro’s case, an entire professional career. The honor for the Basque who teaches at the Madrid School of Architecture comes months after the completion of his building in the Segovia campus, as well as the publication of his book La memoria del orden, where he calls for a discipline which is contemporary while respecting history (see Arquitectura Viva 151 y 160).
