The two winners of the ideas competition that was held for the purpose will each receive a prize of 12,000 euros.
‘Mediterráneo,’ the project for the Valencia Pavilion that was submitted by the Pontevedra-based architect Manuel Bouzas, was selected for “its uniqueness in introducting domestic strategies in public spaces,” quoting from the jury’s verdict. It is a tribute to the Mediterranean blind.
‘Lost Forest,’ the proposal drawn up by the Madrid architects Julia Ruiz-Cabello Subiela and Santiago Del Águila for Donostia-San Sebastián, was chosen for its inclusion of a currently highly relevant topic on the ecosocial agenda: forest fires and their consequences on the current climate crisis. A modular system makes the pavilion a place of transit and contemplation at the same time.
Iñaqui Carnicero chaired the jury and the other members were Nuria Matarredona, Sol Candela, Javier Peña, Benedetta Tagliabue, and João Luis Carrilho da Graça.
