It is not rare for the Spanish Association of Architecture Institutes to bestow its Gold Medal on two bodies of work. Nevertheless, whereas on other occasions the jury sought to award dissimilar trajectories in an endeavor to reflect the diversity of the profession, this year it decided to recognize the complementary practices of Joan Busquets (Barcelona) and Fernando de Terán (Madrid): two urban planners with long careers behind them who have made reflecting on the city a clear expression of architecture’s mission of serving society.
