The geography of Peru is unique in its huge diversity and in the singularity of many of its territories. Among them is its Pacific coastline with a tropical climate that is mild, desert-like, and at the same time humid and cloudy most of the year – even though it hardly rains at all –, and an ocean of cold and open waters. This climate builds a uniform and continuous mineral landscape, ocher and grayish, interrupted only from time to time by the river basins that descend from the Andes, and on the banks of which grow sparse forests of huarango trees.
