Madrid has a new gallery, called ‘Espacio SOLO,’ which will showcase the cross between different contemporary artistic fields. Taking up an entire floor of the historical building that stands at Plaza de la Independencia 5, a work of the architect Secundino Zuazo (1887-1971), the gallery is the result of a design drawn up by the practice of Juan Herreros which is based on the use of industrial materials and a painstaking manipulation of light. Visitors to the gallery will be led through several exhibition halls of varying dimensions, but the project of Herreros also includes a complementary program comprising a library, archives of collections, and a small auditorium.
