There is a project that La Caixa Banking Foundation has unveiled for a Caixaforum space in the city of Valencia, occupying the so far vacant Agora in the City of Arts and Sciences. The project drawn up by the Catalan architect Enric Ruiz-Geli transforms the 6,500 square meters of Calatrava’s building with a light and empathetic intervention that colonizes the interior of the covered plaza with a series of ‘living cells’ under which the program unfolds: exhibition halls, an auditorium, flexible classrooms, areas for families and educational activities, a bookstore, and a restaurant. The cultural center is expected to open to the public in the year 2020.
