Bonell i Gil, Parliament of Vaud

Abstract History

31/08/2019

In the Swiss city of Lausanne, and in collaboration with the local firm Atelier Cube, the Barcelona-based practice of Esteve Bonell and Josep Maria Gil recently completed the new parliament of the Canton of Vaud. Reinterpreting the typical volumes and material quality of the medieval town center, the building stands on what until the year 2002 was the spot of the original construction destroyed by fire, and the project design tries to strike a balance between allusions to traditional typologies and the incorporation of new technologies, in addition to highly abstract spaces predominated by the use of reinforced concrete.
