Two years ago, while planning a Rice Design Alliance tour of New Mexico’s Santa Fe and Abiquiú, I contacted the Albuquerque architect Antoine Predock to see if he would meet with our group during our visit. Predock graciously agreed to meet at the end of our tour of George Pearl Hall, the building he designed for the University of New Mexico’s School of Architecture (2008), now also the home of his archives and drawings. The energetic 85-year-old architect welcomed us with his signature sparkling eyes, simultaneously charming and dynamic as he took us on a run through his awesomely raw building.
