The project to refurbish the historic center of Aberdeen, in Scotland, has been the object of controversy ever since it was proposed in 2010. The City Council wanted to revitalize the Union Terrace Gardens, open to the public in 1879 and currently underused because of the urban breach produced by the railway network and the adjacent highway. After several failed attempts, finally an international competition was called to draw up a cultural program able to perform as a catalyzer respecting the historic park.
