In the eastern part of the city of Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi province, a recently completed station becomes part of the country’s high-speed rail network. With a gross floor area of approximately 100,000 square meters, it provides eight platforms and sixteen tracks.
A distinctive feature of the design is the arc structure of three aisles fragmented with zenithal incisions that let daylight in. The central arc spans 96 meters, creating a spacious column-free area for the concourse. The construction time for the structure was signficantly shortened by prefabricating each arc truss.
The main entrance atrium on the west side forms a three-story space that connects the various functional areas across different levels: the main halls, taxi stands, and the subway stations.
