A Circular Itinerary

The Princeton and Columbia professors, busy today organizing the Triennale, talk with the the Milanese architect in her hometown.

Beatriz+Mark: This issue documents thirty years of projects. The last time we had a conversation about EMBT was sixteen years ago, about halfway through the thirty years.

Benedetta: I don’t feel it was so long ago. These last years were so intense. Maybe doing projects which are so elongated in time is strange because it feels faster. We started a project in 2001 and it’s still unfinished.

B+M: Architecture is so slow that time paradoxically goes by faster?

Benedetta: Yes. I still feel like a very young architect. Don’t you think that as you grow older time becomes much faster. I see my children, Caterina and Domenec, their interests and their way of working, and I love what they do. I really would like to join them. A new generation. A new way of looking. It is surprising how fast new things happen...
