The visionary and illusionist work of MVRDV is overwhelming in its prolific variety. The Dutch company has gone from three founding members whose last names give it its name – Winy Maas, Jacob van Rijs, and Nathalie de Vries – to an international infrastructure of over 150 people, with five additional partners and a branch in China besides the main offices in Rotterdam. The result is a vast output which may strike the outsider as frenzied or unfathomable. Almost every week sees the announcement of a competition won by the team, or the start of construction work of some project.
