Eladio Dieste (Artigas, Uruguay, 1917) belongs to that privileged group of creators in whom technical inventiveness is accompanied by a refined formal sensitivity and a powerful spatial creativity, in such a way that his work tightly closes the artificial gap between architecture and engineering that emerged in the past century. Dieste himself defines himself as an engineer who encountered architecture: large warehouses, where he was doing architecture even if he did not intend to: "I was aware of form and that it did not escape me; it inhabited me, and by inhabiting me, it helped me solve strictly structural problems"...
