Antonio Fernández Alba has died at 96 years of age. An architect, a professor at the Madrid School of Architecture, and a member of both Spain's Royal Academy of Fine Arts and the Royal Spanish Academy, he was given the National Award for Architecture for the Convento del Rollo in Salamanca (1963), the National Award for Restoration for the Astronomical Observatory of Madrid (1980), and the Gold Medal for Architecture in 2002.
