John Pastier, author of a previous monograph that covered up to 1979, Mario Gandelsonas, and Paul Goldberger, architecture critic for The New York Times, are the authors of this new compilation of the work of the Argentine architect in the United States (from the beginning of his career in Eero Saarinen’s studio). It thoroughly documents his most significant works and projects: the World Financial Center in New York, the proposal for the tallest skyscraper in the world, the Minoru-Bettiger Tower in Chicago, and the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles.
The book also includes one of Pelli’s few projects outside the United States, the Docklands development in London —a high-rise office tower, an adjacent five-story building, and a station for the Docklands Light Railway Line—, whose tower is now visible from the Thames.
