Castro is not Macondo, nor is Chiloé's destiny written in the scrolls of the gypsy Melquíades, but the allusion to magical realism may become the most fitting reference when diving into the reality of Ibero-America. I confess to being one of the many people who once docked at the fjord of Castro (perhaps to verify if those myths of the Chilote Arcadia that Edward Rojas, Chiloé's architect, radiated to the world really existed) and I was captivated by that green archipelago where the alders grow wild...
