‘Rafael de La-Hoz: obra privada. Arquitecto para la sociedad’

Among the activities being held for the centenary of the birth of Rafael de La-Hoz Arderius (1924-2000) are two complementary exhibitions in Córdoba: ‘Rafael de La-Hoz’s Public Work: From Detail to City’ in the Presidential Gallery at the Palace of La Merced, on view through 27 February 2025; and ‘Rafael de la La-Hoz’s Private Work: Architect for Society’ at Sala Vimcorsa, through 23 February. Francisco Daroca is the curator of both.

‘Rafael de La-Hoz’s Public Work: From Detail to City’ celebrates the legacy of one of the most influential architects in the history of Córdoba and Spain. Organized by the provincial government of Córdoba, it walks one through the prolific career of Rafael de La-Hoz Arderius as provincial architect from 1950 to 1971, highlighting his social focus, his capacity to reinterpret traditional architectural forms, and his contribution to the province’s urban and rural progress.

‘Rafael de la La-Hoz’s Private Work: Architect for Society’ shows over 150 original works of Rafael de La-Hoz. They include: projects, freehand drawings, and sketches; designs for furniture of the period; four models of projects (Chalet Canals, El Águila Brewery, Aquinas Student Residence, and the new Córdoba City Hall); and photographs and documents from the architect’s personal archives.
