EU Parliament, Brussels, Altiero Spinelli Hall, Security Control Entrance

On another notice, the photographer Paula Gortázar walks us through the interiors of the European Parliament, spaces that most people are unfamiliar with but where important decisions affecting our everyday lives are made. From Greece to the Roman Empire, the Soviet Union or the Nazi regime, public buildings address the values of the period in which they were raised. In this sense the European Parliament represents the prevailance of common interests, a dream that was forged in the fifties decade and that is now at risk due to the deep crisis the continent is suffering.

Paula Gortázar has received the Fresh Faced + Wild Eyed 2012 prize, presented by The Photographers’ Gallery in London. It is a yearly recognition given to innovative new photographers living in the UK. The twenty-two works awarded this year can be seen in the virtual gallery ffwe.thephotographersgallery.org.uk...[+]
