On view through 1 September at Castel Nuovo in Naples is an exhibition of the renowned photographer Mimmo Jodice. In ‘Napoli metafísica,’ over fifty images engage in dialogue with works of Giorgio de Chirico, revealing a Naples suspended between dream and reality. Installed in iconic spaces like the Palatine Chapel, the Chapel of the Souls in Purgatory, and the Armory, the exhibits offer a visual walk divided into chapters evoking the archetypes of metaphysical imagery: Distances, Arches, Columns, Statues, Monuments, Shadows, Apparitions, Voids.

The exhibition pays tribute to Jodice (Naples, 1934), an artist who has made photography a tool for reinterpreting his city’s identity. His lens turns it into a scene of silence and mystery, where light and architecture create rarefied, poetic atmospheres. ‘Napoli metafísica’ is an invitation to discover the invisible soul of Naples through a deeply metaphysical and contemporary gaze.
