On view through 25 February 2024 at Casa da Arquitectura in Matosinhos, in the northern Porto district of Portugal, are two exhibitions on the Brazilian architect Paulo Mendes da Rocha (1928-2021). Curated by Jean-Louis Cohen and Vanessa Grossman and with the montage designed by Eduardo Souto de Moura and Nuno Graça Moura, ‘Constructed Geographies: Paulo Mendes da Rocha’ walks through seven decades of the master’s work. The items on display are drawn from the vast collection delivered to the Casa da Arquitectura, including some never seen in public before. The other show, ‘Paulo: Beyond Drawing,’ curated by Rui Furtado and Marta Moreira and designed by Ricardo Bak Gordon, gives a broader perspective of Mendes da Rocha’s worldview and his reflections on different themes, which explain his work.
