St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in New York, by Calatrava

22/09/2021

In New York, in line with the twentieth anniversary of 9/11, the Santiago Calatrava-designed St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church was lit for the first time. The original temple was totally destroyed when Tower 2 of the World Trade Center collapsed. Presenting a facade of stone with translucent cutouts, the new church stands at the east end of Liberty Park, over the WTC Vehicle Security Center. Completion is slated for the spring of 2022.

Public: St. Nicolas Church will reopen as a national shrine to those lost on 9/11 for 20th anniversary
