United States elections

The most contentious United States elections of recent decades set Donald Trump, aspirant to a second term, against Vice President Kamala Harris, who took up the ticket for the Oval Office after President Joe Biden was compelled to drop out of the race for reelection. In the shadow of Hillary Clinton, who herself ran against the magnate and won the popular vote but not the Electoral College ones required for her to make it to the White House, the current Democrat candidate makes a new attempt to break the glass ceiling that has so far prevented a woman from being commander-in-chief of the world’s no. 1 power. But in her case, the glass is like a mirror behind which, as in Focho’s cartoon, Alice finds a Humpty Dumpty ill-temperedly claiming the cake at stake.
