After starting out his career as a commercial photographer in London in 1989, Richard Allenby-Pratt moved to Dubai in 2000, where he began focussing on his artistic projects. In 2016 he returned to the United Kingdom but continued working regularly in the Middle East, particularly in the United Arab Emirates, where his interest in natural environments and human influence on them would trigger ‘Consumption’ and ‘Abandoned’. These two series respectively show the strange beauty of landscapes modified by development, and the desolation of a dystopian future in which the financial bubble has exploded, spurring a human exodus and bequeathing abandoned buildings to animals...
