Giancarlo De Carlo
The Royal Institute of British Architects gave its yearly medal to Giancarlo De Carlo (Genoa, 1919) for his view of architecture as a social practice, as reflected in his interventions within the city of Urbino. De Carlo studied engineering and architecture in Milan and Genoa, and was active in Team X. In 1977 he founded the magazine Spazio & Societa, still published today.
