'Watch! Watch! Warch!'
As a photojournalist or as a portrait artist, Henri-Cartier Bresson (1908-2004) created timeless compositions that have influenced the style of subsequent generations. His snapshots of encounters and spontaneous situations, many of them considered icons today, have established him as one of the great exponents of street photography. Organized in collaboration with the Bucerius Kunstmuseum of Hamburg, the exhibition ‘Watch! Watch! Watch!’ proposes an approximation to the work of the cofounder of the historic photography agency Magnum. Aside from the early photographs and cinematographic works of surrealist influence, as well as the political stories, among the more than 240 original copies there are also portraits of prominent artists and writers and numerous photographs from later periods, depicting everyday scenes.
