Frida Escobedo, Charlotte Perriand Award

13/09/2023

The Mexican architect Frida Escobeda has been given the Charlotte Perriand Award of the Créateurs Design Association. She is the third recipient of this accolade for trailblazers in architecture and design. In the words of Yuri Xavier, co-founder of the association, “her work exemplifies the qualities that this award seeks to recognize – boldness, innovation, and a commitment to shaping the future of design.”

Born in 1979 in Mexico City, Escobedo set up her practice in 2006, and from there has produced the varied works she is known for, among them the Serpentine Pavilion of 2018 and the Mar Tirreno residential complex in the Mexican capital. The Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art in New York recently selected her to design its Oscar L. Tang and H.M. Agnes Hsu-Tang Wing.

Escobedo will be handed the prize at the Créateurs Design Awards ceremony to be held in Paris on 20 January 2024.
