On view through 28 January 2024 at the Lázaro Galdiano Museum in Madrid is an exhibition of works by four contemporary artists that are based on the scientific, artistic, and photographic contributions of Santiago Ramón y Cajal. Paula Anta, Linarejos Moreno, Ana Pérez Pereda, and Miguel Ángel Tornero trigger a re-reading of the research conducted by the recipient of the 1906 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.
Included in the Official Section of PHotoESPAÑA 2023 and curated by Miguel Cereceda, ‘Connections: Dialogues Around the Legacy of Ramón y Cajal’ also presents objects, paintings, drawings, and photographs of the Spanish scientist himself. The discoverer of the morphology of and connections between nerve cells used microscopic photography to develop his anatomical studies of neurons, and did drawings with great skill.
