Born in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1963, photographer and director David LaChapelle is known internationally for his talent for combining a unique hyperrealistic aesthetic with a critical social message. He started out collaborating with Interview magazine by the hand of Andy Warhol, and soon earned renown for his photographs of celebrities, as well as his music videos for pop stars. Currently his work is focussed mainly on artistic photography, with examples like Land Scape, a series which includes bright, dazzling models of oil refineries and gas stations, and that urges to reflect on the landscape in a planet that is now at the limits of its resources...
