Built Types
Originally published in El País or Arquitectura Viva, these typological texts are grouped in five sections: the first deals with skyscrapers, inserted into the urban profile in a way that has made them marks of identity; the second with airports, constructions having to do with automobile, and offices, three types combining the speed of contemporary motion with the growth of administrative organizations; the third is about schools, critical in the molding of future societies because they are where tomorrow’s adults receive an education; the fourth looks at auditoriums and libraries as venues for the transmission of culture, with commentary on the transition from paper to the digital; amd the fifth explores temples and other spaces for the spirit. A preface reflects on the city where these buildings are located, and the book closes with a walk through the cities of justice and the prisons of constitutional Spain, because it is in these complexes that the will to live together under the empire of law is crystallized.
