Territories of Risk
Chronicles of architecture but also records of the past half-century in Spain and the world at large, the articles wish to leave a testimony of years that were in turn hope-filled, brilliant, and convulsed. This second volume from 'Chronicles of the Crisis' covers the growing concerns about the climate and the environment, the geopolitical mutations that began to manifest themselves in 2014 in Crimea, and the rise of populism in 2016 with Brexit and the election of Trump, while the formidable advances made in technology and science struck a contrast with problems like military and humanitarian crises, massive migration flows, or the pandemic that paralyzed the world in 2020. The first volume, for its part, started with the mortgage crisis that would be the prologue to the financial shock of 2008 and the Great Recession that followed it, a period marked by austerity policies and popular indignation against elites, while the economy digitalized and China flaunted its emerging power through its hosting of the Olympic Games and a World Expo.
