Maestros españoles 3
The latest generations of Spanish architects move about with ease in the international scene, where many have built major works and most teach in universities of note, complementing their initial training at home with a cosmopolitan experience abroad. Protagonists of some happy years in Spain that gave them the opportunity to win competitions and complete works of important proportions and no less significant symbolic power, this group of professionals knew to fertilize their intellectual dimension and teaching vocation with actual practice, in the process harvesting accolades as prestigious as the Pritzker of RCR, the Aga Khan of Nieto Sobejano, or the Mies of Mansilla+Tuñón. The Mies van der Rohe Award would later go to Barozzi Veiga, in this case for a project carried out beyond Spain, which underscores a progressive fading of borders that has helped many an architect face the professional crisis of recent years.
