Under the sign of Mars. Chronicle 2022

Leaving behind a pandemic that has changed the world, the year began with the optimism triggered by the resumption of space exploration, but Russia's incursion into Ukraine brought the winds of war back to Europe, and with consternation we contemplate urbicides like those that took place three decades ago in the Balkans, this time causing a geopolitical fracture manifested above all through energy, but also affecting food supply in areas already much hit by climate change. Awareness of the deterioration of global governance stokes distrust of elites and shows the decline of liberal democracies, which are so at risk of losing out to autocracies that it is imperative to formulate reasonable utopias with which to confront the dilemmas of our societies and our professions.
