Inevitably, Time magazine has named Donald Trump its person of the year for the second time. In 2016, the cover picture was taken by Nadav Kander in his penthouse on the 66th floor of his New York tower, and in 2024 the shoot was done by the photogapher Platón Antonio at Mar-a-Lago, his residence in Florida. The portrait of eight years ago, which was dark and showed Trump looking back at the camera from a chair, was considered a genuine graphic editorial, and the violent foreshortening and pyramidal composition of this year’s image is sure to draw in a similar tide of commentary.
