English football club Manchester United has announced plans to build a 100,000-seat stadium designed by Foster + Partners. The ambitious project will be erected near the 74,140-seat Old Trafford, which has been the team's home for 115 years and will continue to host fans while construction of the new arena is underway. Foster + Partners estimates that the new sports facilities will be completed in five years thanks to prefabrication strategies, and it will feature a tent-like roof – held up by three masts – spanning the entire sports complex and surrounding public spaces.
