The Madrid office of Fuensanta Nieto and Enrique Sobejano, in collaboration with the French firm Novae Architectes, won first prize in the competition for a sport and culture center in Reignier-Esery, in France’s Rhônes-Alpes region. Containing a floor area of 7,668 square meters, the complex seeks to become part of the landscape, engaging in dialogue with it through the materials and the composition of volumes. The constructions are therefore small in scale. The roof, with its sawtooth profile, is a reinterpretation of the Alpine surroundings, its dynamic, fragmented geometry resulting from the changes of direction of the different planes. Under the same roof, the program includes a sport pavilion, tennis and paddle tennis courts, and a multipurpose auditorium.
