Foster + Partners to build phase 2 of Dubai Design District
The office of Norman Foster has won the competition to carry out phase 2 of the masterplan for the Dubai Design District (d3). With an area of about 93,000 square meters, the new neighborhood is to be a Creative Community fostering artistic and intellectual activity in the United Arab Emirates, and the idea is to make it a cultural epicenter of world renown, luring visitors and emerging artists and designers. Aiming for a flexible environment, the winning project presents offices, workshops, outdoor exhibition spaces, and pedestrian zones. Construction is scheduled for completion in 2017.
