SANAA y Snøhetta tie in bid for museum in Budapest

The firms SANAA in Japan and Snøhetta in Norway share first place in the competition to build the New National Gallery – Ludwig Museum in Budapest, one of five museums making up the Liget cultural complex that is set to go up outside the Hungarian capital. Only one of the two  designs will be carried out, to be selected after the jury has met with both teams. In the project drawn up by Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa, the roof is fragmented in curving inclined planes. It Snøhetta’s proposal, it is transitable, serving as a large public space.
