MCHAP: Seven Finalists

Seven buildings have been shortlisted for the Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize (MCHAP) of the IIT’s College of Architecture. In the prize’s first edition, the jury, with Kenneth Frampton as president, has selected the following buildings: 1111 Lincoln Road in Miami (US), by Herzog & de Meuron; Altamira Residential Building in Rosario (Argentina) by Rafael Iglesia; the Chapel in Los Andes (Chile) by Undurraga & Devés; the Iberê Camargo in Porto Alegre (Brazil) by Álvaro Siza; the Mestizo Restaurant in Santiago (Chile) by Smiljan Radic; the Nelson-Atkins Museum in Kansas City, Missouri (US), by Steven Holl; and Seattle Central Library, Washington (US), by OMA+LMN. All of them were completed between 2000 and 2014 and have been chosen because they creatively address the new challenges of 21st century architecture in the Americas. The winner will be announced on 22 October.
