Dossier Inflatables. Arquitectura Viva 163

Inflatable structures had their heyday in the 1970s, but today they are back with new applications, as the six works presented in the section show: a floating pavilion for the festival held in the Swiss town of St. Prex, by Atelier Alice; a concert hall for the areas affected by the tsunami of 2011, by Isozaki, Aoki & Associates, and Anish Kapoor; the biotope of Leipzig designed by Henchion + Reuter, spanning 140 meters; the ‘glamping’ units in South Korea, by studio; a greenhouse by Møller Architects in the Danish city of Aarhus; and the bus station in Aarau (Switzerland), by Vehovar & Jauslin, covered with ETFE cushions.
