MAD, Sheraton Hot Spring Resort in Huzhou (China)

Looking like a horseshoe, the Sheraton Huzhou Hot Spring Resort by MAD – the Beijing studio headed by Ma Yansong – rises from the shores of Lake Taihu in Huzhou, a city in the eastern Chinese province of Zheijiang. The main volume – 100 meters high and 116 meter wide – contains close to 300 rooms. About 40 villas and other freestanding buildings – for restaurants, conference rooms, and events venues – complete the hotel facilities. With a total area of 95,000 square meters, the complex will officially open in December, though some rooms are already in use.
