Zaha Hadid launches Nova, a limited-edition haute-couture footwear for United Nude, the firm of a nephew, also an architect, of Rem Koolhaas, and British shoemaker Galahad Clark. A sinuous pile of curves, it is based on a system of weight distribution that makes the wearer’s heel seem to float sixteen centimeters above the ground. The outside presents a striated surface of chrome-plated vinyl, and the platform and heel are of fiberglass. Molding techniques were used to create a seamless shoe.
