‘Karl Blossfeldt. Urformen der Kunst’ at Thyssen

On view through 5 October at the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum in Madrid is a free-entry exhibition on the work of the German photographer Karl Blossfeldt (1865-1932), organized by Loewe and curated by Juan Naranjo. The beauty of nature is captured in forty images by cameras Blossfeldt himself designed to enlarge objects up to thirtyfold. The selection of photos on display is part of his 1928 book Urformen der Kunst (original forms of art). Loewe honors the artist by including his botanical pictures on advertisements of the Madrid fashion house and in the packaging of its perfumes.
