The Hamburg firm gmp – Architects von Gerkan, Marg und Partners – designed the stadium of FC Krasnodar, a football club that plays in the Russian Premier League. Able to take in 33,000 spectators, it is characterized by an external image recalling the great classical amphitheaters, with its elevations divided into three parts and fluted pilasters of Roman travertine arranged in a regular pattern. One enters by climbing to the top of a pedestal that contains the team school and other services. Surrounded by a 360º led screen, the grandstand is protected by a highly technical roof formed by a two-layer fiberglass membrane. The surrounding park is also designed by the German firm.
