Winners of competition for Community Center in Nepal

The French non-profit organization ARCHsharing has announced the winners of its second competition for students and young architects, this time for a community center in a Nepalese vilage, 20 kilometers south of Katmandu. Since the earthquare that shook the country in 2015, several NGOs have worked in the area to implement social projects including the building of schools, orphanages, and civic centers. As an incentive for contestants, a money award for the winner was offered, along with the privilege of carrying out the selected project in collaboration with the NGO Rock’nWood. On the jury were Anna Heringer, Martin Rauch, Gilles Perraudin, Helena Sandman, Line Ramstad, Luigi Rosselli, Urko Sánchez, and Tasuhiro Yamashita, among others. The winning entry was designed by Evgeny Makarenko, Xenia Zvereva, Ekaterina Arefyeva, Ekaterina Arefyeva, and Tatyana An of the Moscow School of Architecture. The second prize went to Noiret Maxence and Paul Wang of ENSA (Strasbourg), and Vincent Masson, Fanny Thibault, and Maïlys Mendouss of INSA (Strasbourg) came in third.
