Bay Book House (BaBH) competition winners

Organized by Arquideas, the Bay Book House (BaBH) San Francisco international competition for students and recent graduates of architecture brought in 78 entries from 25 countries. It involved designing a space for cultural exchange that would serve to activate one or several of the abandoned docks of San Francisco’s old harbor. The jury – including Kim Herforth Nielsen, Masahiro Harada, Ada Yvers, Sara de Giles, Manuel J.Feo, Vanessa Vielma, and the winning team of MoAn Egypt – gave first prize to Indibil Solans Ibáñez, Daniel Varga, Lara Arín González, and Lluis Balcells Gracia of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (Spain); second prize to Thang Ngo and Linh Pham of the Politecnico di Milano (Italy); and third to Javier Torres Navarro, Sofía Calvo, and Sandra Castro Sánchez of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. Honorable mentions went to five projects by: Cristian Ríos Abello, Santiago Álvarez Arteaga, and Carlos Andrés Ramírez Bohorquez of the Universidad San Buenaventura (Colombia); Alejandro Sánchez-Guijo of the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Málaga (Spain); Marco Caporaletti, Francesco Tricarico, and Felix Varaschini of the Politecnico di Milano (Italy); Carlos Mateo Soto, Felipe Santamaría, and Sofía Hinestrosa of the Pontificia Universidad Javierana (Colombia); and Maria Michnowska, Aleksandra Kozlowska, Nelly Malinowska, and Maria Kaczorowska of the Lodz University of Technology (Poland).

is the third member of the AV family: a bilingual publication essentially focussed on design projects (with special attention on competitions and construction details), heretofore only laterally dealt with in the other two magazines.
