‘Colors of Humanity’ by Steven Holl – in collaboration with Rüssli Architekten – is the winning design in the bid to build a new operational center for Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) in Geneva, Switzerland, carrying the day over proposals by Sou Fujimoto, Emilio Tuñón, Sauerbruch Hutton, and more. Holl’s project is characterized by a cube topped with a garden roof and clad with panels and colored photovoltaic glass panes with degrees of permeability. The new building will provide office space for a staff of more than 250 and there will be conference halls and meeting rooms encouraging encounters and dialogue. Construction is to begin in 2019.
