The career of Andrés Jaqué can conceptually be described as being halfway between architectural design and critical activism, and geographically it is divided between Madrid and New York City, where he has been teaching since the year 2013, and directing an MS program in Advanced Design since 2018, at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, which just this last 1 September he became Dean of, succeeding figures as important as Amale Andraos, Mark Wigley, Bernard Tschumi, and the very recently deceased James Polshek; predecessors whose legacy the Spaniard will seek to enrich by intensifying the prestigious school’s participation in current debates and the future of the discipline and profession.[+]
